vBlog – Exposure and Flash Compensation

Yesterday I was asked by a photographer to help out at the U of R chapel next to the river in hopes of coming up with a solution for a lighting dilemma they were having. It seems some of the photographers who shoot there have poorly lit images. After visiting the church I realize its because the ambient light is virtually unusable unless you run an extremely high ISO. On camera flash would help and is allowed during the ceremony, but the space is so large multiple off camera flashes are the only real option.

While I was there I had a conversation with a fellow who was having some trouble with his exposure compensation and flash compensation controls on his Canon. Canon cameras use the same indicator display to control both. They are VERY different and controlling both with the same indicator can be confusing. They go hand in hand for creating a good image, but knowing how to adjust it is only half the battle. Knowing what they DO is the other half. I hope first vBlog called “Exposure & Flash Compensation” will clear that up.

Enjoy. Feedback is always good. :)

“Sweet Dreams Sunday Brunch” at ‘Next Door’

My friend Heather who owns ‘The Cupcake Dreamery‘ asked me to shoot some video of an event they were throwing at ‘Next Door‘ in Pittsford. The brunch was to benefit Hillside so who could argue with that. ‘Adrien Jules‘ and ‘Rowe Photo & Video‘ were just a few of the sponsors. The food was fantastic and I would recommend going to the restaurant if you’re ever in Pittsford.

The event went really well and attendance was good. The group ‘NOTA‘ was there to perform. They were NBC’s ‘Sing Off’ champions. I could honestly see why. They performed to a packed room after everyone had a chance to eat, and were very well received.

A great event overall, and I was glad to be a part of it. I’ll share the video after I produce it :) Until then, here’s a few photos.
